Biography

Julian Phelps received his training from Lenoir-Rhyne University receiving a Bachelors in Studio Art with minors in Art Therapy, Creative Writing, and Psychology. He is based out of his art studio, Phelps Phine Art, located on 305 E Chapel Hill St. Durham, NC. He transforms his studio into exhibiting space for his paintings and installations during 3rd Friday Art Walks and downtown events. Phelps has extensively exhibited across North Carolina including The Durham Art Guild and Litmus Gallery. Phelps explores ecoscapes and consciousness, diving into cosmic-floral compositions, critters, meditative voids, and astral imagery. He uses a variety of mediums: oil, oil and cold wax, enamel, and mixed media. Phelps believes in the universality of art, and he seeks to explore unique paths into the viewer’s perception.
